Program Offerings

Social Skills

Social Skills

Throughout each week, our members hone their social skills in a variety of targeted ways. Our members learn how to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy relationships and get guidance on how to adjust behavior depending on the setting: professional, public, private, family, peers, and anywhere in between. During social time, members make friendships while putting lessons on patience and emotional regulation to good use in the real world. Role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons are used to target individualized social challenges, to improve communication, to practice conflict resolution and self-advocacy, and to learn how to work cooperatively towards a common goal.

Career Development

Career Development

Not only do we review resumes, cover letters, and practice interview skills, but we also role play scenarios to help members keep jobs once they land one. Whether it’s problem-solving workplace social challenges and conflicts, or learning how to research topics and present to small groups in a professional manner, our members gain experience they can utilize in any workplace environment in the future. We also offer individualized career assessments to help members find a new direction to pursue for their longterm goals. Through our social enterprise, members acquire on-the-job skills in a supported and guided environment with low stakes and a gradual learning curve.

Independent Living Skills

Independent Living Skills

Members learn through weekly projects where they have to research and present their answers to a particular question – whether it’s how to navigate public transit, find upcoming community events, plan a vacation on a specific budget, or research different insurance plans, members are stretched to find answers to real-life issues.

Community Engagement

Community Engagement

Our community outings are a 2-way street. Not only do members enjoy new experiences around the whole metroplex, but the community at large also has an opportunity to get first-hand knowledge of how engaging and valuable our members are as fellow citizens, neighbors, friends, students, and employees.

Throughout each week, members learn more about what is going on in the world around them including our pocket of North Texas. We go on outings all over the metroplex to see what DFW has to offer for arts, entertainment, culture, business, and more. We also give back to the community through regular service partnerships, making friends, developing values, and acquiring life and career skills along the way.
