Neighborhood Outings: Addison

As part of our community outings, we are exploring different neighborhoods around our varied metroplex. We are so lucky to have such a diversity of opportunities by living in a huge urban center like Dallas/Fort Worth, yet so many of us get stuck in a rut going to the same familiar places that we already know. Venturing out into other neighborhoods is always a good cultural experience.

In addition to getting a feel for each area’s character, dining and recreational offerings, we also are learning a little bit about what each neighborhood offers as a potential future residence.

This week we got a little taste of Addison. After lunch, we strolled through the Addison Circle Park area’s mixed use shops and apartments and noticed how close it was to the bus depot. We saw plenty of bicycles on resident’s balconies and noted the distinctly urban feel of the district. It even hosts the Watertower Theater for the artistically-inclined. You could definitely live without a car in this area, and it would be easier to navigate than downtown Dallas. We were particularly impressed by the number of green spaces and parks throughout Addison. Next we made use of the huge recreation space at Les Lacs Park across from the Addison Athletic Club, a very nice facility that is only $10/life for residents!!
We can’t wait to learn more about opportunities in Addison or to make our next visit to another metroplex neighborhood!
